The word that comes to mind is fine.
In this paranormal romance, Misery Lark, the daughter of a powerful Vampyre councilman, is forced into a politically motivated marriage with Lowe Moreland, the Alpha Werewolf. Despite the volatile nature of Weres and Lowe’s distrust, Misery has her own secretive and personal motives for entering this alliance. As she navigates her new life in Were territory, she faces the challenge of balancing her own hidden agenda with the complexities of living with a powerful and intense wolf leader.
I haven’t read any of Hazelwoods books before this one and maybe that was my first mistake? I really wanted to love this and while it was…fine. I just felt like it was missing something. It was exceptionally boring. Truthfully, I loved the first 25% of this book and I didn’t mind the characters. Misery, herself, was fine and Lowe was equally fine. But that’s just it, everything was fine. Which is the only word I can think of to describe this.
The plot… fine.
The characters… fine.
The worldbuilding (or lacktherof)… fine.
I can’t say I hated this. But I can say that it was knot for me.
