After a traumatic incident eight years ago, Sirena is sent to Chapel Crest, a religious academy that turns out to be more of an asylum than a sanctuary. Her stepfather sees her as a “mute demon” and hopes the academy will “cure” her. Instead, she finds a harsh environment with oppressive staff and a group of bullies called the Watchers. Despite the brutal conditions, she’s drawn to the dark allure of the Watchers and finds herself struggling for survival while grappling with her own dark desires.
