On this episode of I read them so you don’t have to…

This book feels more like a collection of steamy scenes than a cohesive story. While I can see the potential for an interesting plot, it’s overshadowed by the overwhelming focus on smut. I’m enjoying parts of the story, but with more development, it could have been truly great.

The writing suffers from a lack of editing, with a lot of repetitive sentences and dialogue that detracts from the experience. And if I hear about how the characters are “bound and tethered” one more time, I might lose it! Another note is that whenever I see “chronicles” in the series title, I instantly get a bit of the ick and I’m not really sure why. I tend to not pick them up.

One of the biggest issues for me is the Luna’s reaction to her family’s tragic death. She seems oddly unfazed, quickly moving on and then just casually learns to fly without showing any real anger or grief. I understand that vampires are supposed to suppress emotions, but this emotional detachment feels like a missed opportunity to deepen the narrative.

Ultimately, I’ve decided not to continue with book 4 or Marius’s story. I’m feeling pretty much a DNF at this point because I found myself getting bored.
